At the very top of your Today hub, the Time Clock card is your punch clock for driver time tracking. It's what payroll reads from: everything you do here rolls up into the timesheet your office reviews and approves at the end of the pay period.
What You'll See
The card shows one of three states depending on where you are in your day:
| State | What the card shows | What to tap |
|---|---|---|
| Not clocked in | "Ready to start your shift" | Clock In |
| On the clock | Your live worked time, updating every 30 seconds | On Break or Clock Out |
| On break | "On break: X minutes" | End Break to resume, or Clock Out to end your shift |
GPS on Your Punch
When you clock in or out, the app grabs your GPS location. It's best-effort: if location is off or slow, the punch still goes through and never blocks you. The office uses this to help resolve questions about arrival and departure times if they ever come up.
If You Forgot to Clock Out Yesterday
Just clock in today as normal. The app notices the leftover open shift, closes it automatically at your organization's max-shift limit (usually 16 hours after you clocked in), and starts your new shift fresh. You'll see a warning toast that a previous shift was auto-closed, which is your cue to tell your dispatcher so they can correct the real end time.
Breaks
Breaks pause your worked-time counter. Start one with On Break, end it with End Break. Break time is subtracted from your total hours automatically. If you clock out while still on break, the break ends with the clock-out, so your hours don't keep subtracting a break that never ended.
Reviewing Your Shifts
The card expands to show your recent shifts (last 7 days by default). For each shift you'll see the date, clock-in and clock-out times in your company's timezone, worked hours, and break time.
What If You Don't See the Time Clock Card?
Two possible reasons:
You'll see the card the next time you open the app after either is fixed.
Corrections
You can't edit your own punches; only your dispatcher or admin can. If you missed a punch or the time is wrong, tell your dispatcher what actually happened. They'll fix it and note the reason, which is required so payroll can reconcile months later.
What Happens at the End of the Pay Period?
Your dispatcher or admin reviews the whole team's hours, corrects any missed or wrong punches, and approves your period for payroll approval. Once approved, your punches for that period are frozen, no more edits from anyone (including them, without un-approving first). Your approved hours then flow to payroll as a CSV export, or, once the QuickBooks Online Payroll direct push ships, directly into QuickBooks Online Payroll.
