The Dispatch Line is a one-tap connection from any job to your admins and dispatchers, with the job context already attached so you don't have to repeat yourself.
When to Use It
Use Report an Issue for structured field problems (blocked units, damage, overfilled loads). Use the Dispatch Line for conversation.
Where to Find It
Two entry points:
From a job, the sheet includes the job card automatically (job number, customer, address). From Quick Actions, it opens without job context, just for reaching the office.
What the Sheet Shows
A bottom sheet listing your organization's dispatchers and admins. Dispatchers appear first because that's who you usually need. Each contact has their name and role, a Message button, and a Call button.
Messaging Dispatch
What lands in their team chat:
```
📍 Job J-1042 Ironline Construction @ 412 Elm St
Traffic on I-5, I'll be 10 min late
```
No leaving the job. No opening chat. No retyping the address. Their reply comes back as a normal team-chat DM with a push notification.
Calling Dispatch
Tap the Call icon on the dispatcher. The app rings them through the built-in calling system.
Both Parties Get Context
When you place the call from a job, the call carries a tag with the job's ID. In the office, the dispatcher answers with the job open, no "which stop are you at?" needed.
Fallback: Your Phone's Dialer
If your dispatcher isn't online in PortaPro, use the customer contact card on the job for Call and Text buttons that route to your phone's dialer with the correct number pre-filled. That won't attach job context, but it will connect the call.
Team Chat vs. the Dispatch Line
Both use the same underlying chat system, so a Dispatch Line message shows up as a normal DM you can continue in Team Chat.
Emergencies
For life-safety emergencies (accident, injury, hazmat), dial 911 first. Then use the Dispatch Line or Team Chat to tell the office.
