The inventory equipment catalog is your master list of equipment types. Each item is a row — Standard Portable Toilet, ADA Unit, Hand Wash Station, VIP Trailer, Holding Tank, and so on. From each row you can edit defaults, view stock, assign units to maintenance, and configure variations.
The Edit Product modal sets the item's defaults. The most important field is Default billing period — this is the billing period pre-selected when this item is added to a Rate Card row, job, quote, or invoice. Most portable sanitation operators set this to Per Month or Per 28-Day Cycle for ongoing service equipment. Per Day and Flat Rate are typically for event rentals.
For each billing period you can set a default price. Leave any period blank to hide that option in dropdowns where this item is added. The form shows Monthly first because it's the most common — Per 28-Day Cycle below it, then Per Week, Per Day, and Flat Rate in an "Other Periods" group.
The badge on the equipment overview page displays the price for the item's default billing period. Set Standard PT to default Per 28-Day Cycle with a $110 rate and the badge reads "$110 / 28-day." If the default period has no price set, the badge falls back to the next available price in priority order (monthly → 28-day → weekly → daily → flat) so you always see something useful.
Catalog prices are the lowest layer of the Track B pricing hierarchy (the resolver used for job, quote, and manual invoice line items) — they apply only when there's no matching site Additional Charge and no Customer Default Rate. Recurring Rate Card rows don't use this hierarchy at all; they bill their own rate directly on the Cycle Invoice. Most operators set realistic catalog defaults anyway as a sensible fallback. Suggested starting points: Standard PT $85/month, ADA $125/month, Hand Wash $45/month, VIP Trailer $1,500 flat.
