What it is
Quick Search is the search box built into PortaPro's navigation. It does two jobs at once:
It is not the same thing as the search box inside a specific page. Jobs & Dispatch, Customers, Inventory and others each have their own filters that search only that page's records. Quick Search is the one that spans the whole app.

If you've collapsed the sidebar down to the narrow icon rail, the rail shows a magnifier instead of the box. Click it and the sidebar expands with your cursor already in the search box.
The tip inside the box
On a computer, the small info icon (a circled i) at the right end of the Quick Search box opens a short reminder when you click it. It never pops up when you hover; it opens on click only:
Use Quick Search to jump to any page or record. Type keywords to filter results: jobs, fuel logs, compliance tabs, customers, and more.
On a phone, the full-screen search shows the same words under Quick Search before you start typing.
Switching navigation styles
The panel icon switches between the two desktop layouts. In sidebar mode it sits in the sidebar header next to the collapse button ("Switch to header navigation"). In header mode it sits at the far left of the header bar ("Switch to sidebar navigation"). Your choice is remembered in that browser on that device; it doesn't change anyone else's layout.

What you'll see, by role
Quick Search never shows anyone something they couldn't otherwise open. Pages are filtered to your role. Customers, contacts and service locations appear only for office staff (admins and dispatchers); drivers, mechanics and customer-portal users get page results only.
