PortaPro has two independent time clocks, and they answer different questions. Never sum them. The office timesheet only reads one of them.
| Clock | Question it answers | Where it appears | Feeds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shift clock | Was the person at work? | Time Clock page, Today hub, Team → Timesheets | Payroll, this is the source of truth |
| Work-order labor | How much of a repair should be job-costed to this work order? | Inside a maintenance work order in Fleet Management | Job costing, never payroll |
Why Two
A mechanic who repairs a truck legitimately logs both. Their shift covers the whole workday: arriving, meetings, cleanup, waiting on parts, travel. Their work-order labor covers just the wrench-time on that repair. Adding the two together double-pays them, so mechanic time tracking always keeps these two clocks separate.
Which Direction of Drift Is Normal
Practical Consequence
If a mechanic asks why their two totals don't match, that's the intended design. The office timesheet is what payroll gets. Job costing lives on the work order.
