# Workshop Status Pipeline Stages of a Repair

Every unit in the Workshop moves through a defined pipeline of 7 stages. Each stage has a distinct color chip so you can identify repair progress at a glance.

The Seven Workshop Stages

1. Reported (grey)

The unit has been flagged as damaged or needing service but has not yet been physically received into the shop. Use this stage when damage is noted in the field before the unit is returned.

2. Intake (blue)

The unit has arrived at the shop and is being checked in. This is the automatic starting state when a unit's status changes to Workshop. During intake:

  • Photograph the unit from multiple angles
  • Note all visible damage before repair begins
  • Assign the primary mechanic
  • Record the initial damage assessment
  • 3. Diagnosed (indigo)

The mechanic has completed an assessment and understands the full scope of damage. A damage type classification and severity rating should be assigned here. The system automatically advances to Diagnosed when you log a Damage Assessment activity.

    4. Awaiting Parts (amber)

The repair cannot proceed because required parts have not arrived. Move the unit to this stage when a part is on order. The Awaiting Parts count on the stat strip reflects this stage so management can track supply chain delays.

    5. In Repair (orange)

Active repair work is in progress. Parts are being installed, welding or body work is underway, systems are being serviced.

    6. Quality Check (teal)

Repair work is complete and the unit is undergoing final inspection. When logging a Quality Check activity:

  • Select Pass → unit advances to Done (at least one completion photo required)
  • Select Fail → unit returns to In Repair for additional work
  • This gate prevents units from being returned to service without documented inspection sign-off.

    7. Done (green)

All repair work is complete, quality check has passed, and the unit is ready to be returned to active service.

    Advancing Status

Via the Log Repair Activity modal: Select activity type Status Change and pick the new stage. You can jump to any stage, not just the next one in sequence.

Via the Kanban board: Each unit card has ← Back and → Advance arrows that move one stage at a time.

Via the Unit Repair Detail page: Action buttons like "Move to QC" or "Return to Service" trigger targeted transitions.
