What this is
Some companies keep one iPad in each truck instead of asking every driver to use their own phone. Until September 2026 that iPad had to be signed in as one person, so every stop, photo, inspection and time punch on it was recorded under whoever's name happened to be loaded.
Now the iPad is signed in as the truck ("Truck 123"), and you sign on to it with a short PIN. From that moment everything you do on the tablet is recorded under your own name, exactly as if you were on your own phone. It works the way a restaurant point-of-sale terminal or an in-cab fleet computer does: one shared screen, everyone identified by their own code.
You never need the truck's password. If the iPad ever signs out, tell dispatch.

Sign on at the start of your shift
You'll see Clocked in, have a good one when the punch was recorded, or Welcome back, you're already on the clock if you clocked in on your own phone before you got to the truck. There is never a second punch.
If your tile says No PIN set yet, ask dispatch to set one, dispatch needs to give you a PIN in Team Management before you can sign on.

The idle lock
Your company can set the tablet to lock after a period of quiet (15 minutes to 4 hours). When it does, the screen covers itself with your name and Enter your PIN to continue. Enter your PIN to carry on where you were. If it isn't you, tap Switch driver to go back to the roster.
The lock never clocks you out and never loses your work.

Your own phone still works
Signing in on your phone is unchanged. You can be on your phone and on the truck tablet at the same time; both write the same records. Push alerts for your jobs reach your phone and the tablet you're signed on to.
Face ID and fingerprint unlock are off on shared tablets because they would unlock for whoever enrolled the device, not for you. The PIN is the lock there.
