# How PortaPro Maps Expenses to Schedule C
What Is Schedule C?
IRS Schedule C (Form 1040) is the tax form sole proprietors and self-employed individuals use to report business profit or loss. As a portable sanitation operator, you file Schedule C to report revenue, deduct business expenses, and calculate net profit which determines your tax liability.
Most operators dread this because sorting a year's worth of expenses takes hours. PortaPro eliminates that work by doing the categorization all year long, automatically.
The Pre-Mapped Category System
Every expense category in PortaPro comes pre-assigned to the correct IRS Schedule C line. When you log an expense and pick a category, you've already done the tax categorization. Nothing extra to do at year-end.

Custom Categories
If you create your own expense categories beyond the defaults:
Why This Matters
Without PortaPro, year-end typically means pulling bank statements, manually sorting transactions, guessing which line "fuel" goes on, and handing your accountant a messy spreadsheet.
With PortaPro, every expense was categorized as it was entered, every category is already on the right Schedule C line, and you can export a complete summary in under 30 seconds.
