What "Cash Basis" Means in the Export
The Schedule C export is strictly cash basis:
This is the correct method for most small business Schedule C filers and matches IRS expectations.
The Sales Tax Collected Addendum
If you collect sales tax, the export automatically appends a Sales Tax Collected section showing total tax collected and a breakdown by jurisdiction.
Important: Sales tax is a pass-through it is not your income and does not affect Line 1 Gross Receipts on Schedule C. This section is informational only, to help you prepare your state sales tax filings.
Common Export Issues
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Revenue lower than expected | Invoices still in pending/unpaid status mark them paid |
| Expenses lower than expected | Expenses left in Draft mark them Recorded |
| "(unmapped)" categories appear | Assign a Schedule C line in Settings → Finance → Expense Categories |
| Wrong totals | Verify the date range is correct (Jan 1 – Dec 31 for full year) |
