Push notifications reach drivers and staff on their phone through PortaPro Field Operations, PortaPro's mobile app on the App Store (iPhone and iPad) and Google Play (Android). They arrive even when the app is closed. A browser tab does not receive push notifications; the bell and email still work there.

Enabling Push Notifications

  • Install the app: search the App Store or Google Play for PortaPro Field Operations and sign in
  • Turn push on: drivers on the Profile screen under Push Notifications; office staff in Settings → Notifications
  • Allow when the phone asks
  • Send test notification to confirm it arrives
  • Choose what to receive: each alert type has its own bell, push and email switches in notification preferences

    • Notification Triggers

    Push notifications are triggered by:

  • Job Assignment: When you're assigned a new job
  • Route Schedule Changes: Effective date and reason included
  • Comment Mentions: When someone mentions you in a comment
  • Status Updates: Important job status changes

    • What a Push Contains

  • Title: Brief description of the event
  • Body: Additional context and details
  • Tap: Opens the related job, message or screen in the app

    • One Phone, One Person

    A phone receives push for whoever is signed in to the app on it. If someone else signs in on the same phone, their alerts go there instead. On a shared truck tablet, alerts follow the driver signed on with their PIN.

    Troubleshooting Push Notifications

    If notifications aren't working:

  • Make sure you're using the PortaPro Field Operations app, not a browser
  • Check that push is on (Profile → Push Notifications, or Settings → Notifications)
  • Check that PortaPro is allowed to send notifications in your phone's Settings app
  • Check that the alert type has push turned on in your notification preferences
  • Tap Send test notification
