Before your first invoice goes out, spend five minutes telling PortaPro how your company bills. Every new customer starts from these settings. It's all in Settings, under Finance. First, the number your next invoice gets. Coming from another system? Start where your old numbers left off, so nothing repeats. Then your default payment term, like net thirty. A customer can always have their own. The billing cycle decides when rate card customers get invoiced. Bill by the calendar month, on each customer's own anniversary, or on a fixed count of days. A lot of portable toilet companies bill every twenty-eight days. Pick fixed-day, set the length, and choose the date the first cycle started. Save, and new customers inherit it. Anyone with a cycle of their own keeps it. Cycle Billing is where the invoices start writing themselves. With auto-draft on, PortaPro prepares each customer's invoice a few days before their cycle closes. Nothing goes out until you review it and press send. Set it up once, and month end turns into a quick look over a stack of drafts.
