Step by step in writing: Importing Customers
Transcript
Your customer list lives somewhere today: a spreadsheet, an old program, or a page of notes. Any of those will do. On Customers, open the menu beside Add Customer. Then choose Customer Import. Paste the list right in. It doesn't need columns or headings; plain notes like these work. Click Preview Import, and PortaPro reads every line and sorts it into fields. Nothing is saved yet. First, it shows you what deserves a second look. These three have no billing address. That's a warning, not a blocker, so Import Anyway keeps them, and the address can be added later. Each unit type in your list gets matched to a product in your catalog. Both of these matched on their own. Residential or commercial comes next. They're grouped by what the names suggest, so one click settles the group. Billing and Tax shows your billing cycle, and asks about anything your list left out. These rows never mentioned tax, so you decide. Here, they're non-taxable. The last step sums it up: three customers, three sites, six units, and the recurring revenue they bring. Import, and they're in your book, sites and rate cards included. Changed your mind? Undo this import takes it all back, right here or later under Recent imports. It checks with you first, and it won't remove anything real work depends on, like a sent invoice or a payment. A good habit: try it with a handful of customers, then bring in the rest.
