Fuel goes up, a pump-out needs a disposal charge, a call comes in at ten at night. If the extra charge depends on someone remembering to type it, it gets missed. The surcharge library keeps those charges ready to add. Find it under Settings, Finance, Surcharges and Fees. Each entry is a charge you add often: the name your customer reads on the invoice, an amount, and an optional note that only your team sees. A fuel surcharge here is a percentage, three and a half percent of the invoice. The environmental fee is a flat twelve fifty. The disposal fee is flat too, and notice it isn't marked taxable. And an after-hours call is a hundred and fifty dollars. Add Surcharge opens the form. Give it a name and an optional description. Then pick how it's priced. Dollars for a flat amount, percent, or per unit. A percentage is figured on the subtotal, the line items before any discount or tax, so it grows and shrinks with the work you bill. Per unit is for charges that scale with something you measure, like gallons or tons. You set the price for one unit and what the unit is called, and enter the quantity when you add it. The taxable switch decides whether the fee counts toward sales tax. Pass-through costs like a disposal fee are often left untaxed. Check your state's rules. Now an invoice. Here's a new one for Highland Concrete, with a forty-five dollar service visit on it. Your saved surcharges sit right on the invoice as one-click buttons. Tap the fuel surcharge and the disposal fee, and both are added. Three and a half percent of forty-five dollars comes to a dollar fifty-eight, and the disposal fee is marked non-tax. The summary adds them to the total. Where sales tax applies, it's figured on the taxable ones only. For something you'll only charge once, Add Surcharge also takes a custom one-off, without putting it in the library. An applied surcharge keeps the rate it had that day. Raise your fuel surcharge next month, and invoices already written don't change. Nothing here is ever added on its own, and quotes don't take surcharges. Jobs do: a fee added on a job's Fees and Surcharges card rides the customer's next cycle invoice, or comes onto the invoice you make from that job, ready for you to review.
