Three sources feed the same map. You can use any combination, most orgs end up using all three.
The Three Sources
1. Hardware trackers (Flespi)
Physical GPS devices you attach to a vehicle or unit, Digital Matter Oyster/Yabby/Remora tags, Teltonika vehicle trackers, or anything from the supported list. PortaPro receives their data through Flespi, a telematics middleware layer. Buy them inside PortaPro (Settings → GPS Tracking) and they arrive configured for your account with cellular service included, or bring supported hardware you already own.
2. Samsara
If you already run Samsara for your trucks, paste a read-only API token from your Samsara dashboard and your fleet appears on the PortaPro map within minutes. Nothing is provisioned on Samsara's side, and PortaPro never writes to your Samsara account.
3. Driver app phone GPS
Already built into the driver app. When a driver is signed in and the org has phone tracking enabled, their location feeds the map at up to one ping per minute. Best as a fallback, a phone can be in a different vehicle than the one dispatch expects.
Source Badge on Every Pin
Every pin on the map carries a source label in its popup:
Dispatchers should know whether they are looking at a bolted tracker on the truck or a phone in somebody's cab.
Fallback Chain
When a vehicle has both a hardware tracker and a driver assigned, ETAs prefer the tracker, a bolted device is a strictly better position origin than a phone. If the tracker goes silent, live ETA falls back to the driver's phone within the same 15-minute staleness cap.
