Hardware trackers are bought inside PortaPro and arrive configured for your account. There is no "connect" step for PortaPro-shipped hardware: the ingest pipeline sets itself up the moment you enable GPS Tracking. Settings → GPS Tracking has three sections: Vehicle tracking, Inventory unit tracking, and Orders & devices, because a truck and a porta-potty need different devices.
Buying vehicle trackers
The tracker is a Queclink GV500MAP plug-in OBD-II unit that reads VIN, odometer and fuel on supported models: $200 per tracker, shipped and configured, plus $10/month of tracking service. See Vehicle tracking hardware.
Buying unit tracking devices
There is no fit check for units: a porta-potty has no port and no engine, so every unit can take a device. Up to 25 per order; above that, email us and we will quote the whole fleet.
The device is a Digital Matter Oyster3 with a 10-year 1NCE SIM, 5–7 year battery, IP68, reporting when the unit moves, up to a few times a day: $200 per device including the SIM, configuration and shipping, plus $1/month (or $10/year). See Unit tracking device setup.
Already have GPS trackers?
The collapsed Already have GPS trackers on your trucks? card at the bottom of the vehicle section is the honest answer. Professional trackers from a fleet-GPS provider (Queclink GV series, Teltonika FMB/FMC, Ruptela FM, Digital Matter Oyster3/Yabby3/Remora3) can usually be re-pointed at PortaPro, so you skip the hardware purchase and pay only the monthly service. Consumer trackers sold with a required subscription (Vyncs, Bouncie, Spy Spot, LandAirSea, MOTOsafety and similar) cannot: their hardware is locked to the seller's servers.
Email support@portaprosoftware.com with the device make and exact model, its 15-digit IMEI, who provides the SIM, and whether you are still under contract; re-pointing is a manual, per-device job on our side, which is why it is an email and not a button. PortaPro-shipped hardware includes its cellular service; bring-your-own hardware needs its own SIM.
Your orders
The Your orders card shows only live orders: *Compatibility check in progress*, *Being configured for your account*, *Shipped* (with carrier, tracking number and an *Arrives ~Aug 30* estimate when we have entered one), and *Live* for a week after the device first reports. Canceled orders and abandoned checkouts never appear: an unfinished Stripe checkout is an attempt, not an order. It never blocks the truck in the picker, returning to Settings releases it at once, and a new checkout for the same truck supersedes it.
Billing for every device starts the day it sends its first location, not the day you order it. See Hardware Trackers for what happens once a device arrives.
