What it is
The Map tab of Jobs & Dispatch puts the day's jobs, your drivers and
your service area on one live map. You can see where every stop is, open a
job or a driver beside the map, reassign or reschedule work, and look up an
address to find the best day and driver for a new job.
The map shows one day: the date picked at the top of Jobs & Dispatch
(today when you first open it). Changes made by anyone in your company
appear on the map without a refresh.
The top bar
From left to right on a computer:
right panel shows coverage and suggested slots (see *Looking up an
address* below). ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) jumps to this field.
list beside the map, List shows the job list only. All three share
the same filters.
approval to dump at a disposal site (see below).
On a phone the bar is a small floating control with the three view buttons
and a ⋯ button. ⋯ opens Map Actions: address search, the date
presets, How Maps Work and New Job. A + New button floats over
the map, and an expand button in the corner gives the map the whole screen.
Filters
Under the top bar is a row of filter pills: Driver, Territory,
Status, Type and Tag. Pick one or more values in each. Active
filters show as small chips you can remove one at a time, with Clear all
once two or more are on.
Tag offers only the tags that apply to jobs in the window: Priority,
Overdue (jobs that were moved after being missed), Service,
Deposit pending and Locks requested.
On a phone, Filters opens an All Filters sheet with every group in
one place; tap Apply to use your picks.
Map layers
On a computer the layer panel sits at the top left of the map. On a phone,
tap the layers button at the bottom left to open Map Layers. Each layer
has a one-letter shortcut, shown beside it.
| Group | Layer | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Data | Territories (T) | Your active service territories that have a drawn boundary, shaded in each territory's color. Click one to open it. On by default. |
| Data | Customers (C) | A reference dot for every customer site that has a map location. |
| Data | Heatmap (H) | Where your customer sites are densest. |
| Operations | Routes (R) | A line through each driver's stops in scheduled-time order, in the driver's color. Solid for the selected day, dashed for the next day. It joins the stops in a straight line; it is not a driving route. |
| Operations | Disposal Sites (D) | Your dump stations and disposal sites. On by default. |
| Operations | Soft-Booked (S) | Septic sites whose predicted pump-out date falls this week or next and have no job yet. A dashed outline is coming due; a solid outline is past due. Click one to look up that address. On by default. |
| Live | Radar (W) | Live weather radar. Only available when the map is showing today. |
| Live | Vehicles (V) | Trucks with a GPS tracker. Needs a connected tracker. |
| Live | Tracked Units (U) | Units with a GPS tag. Needs a connected tag. |
Drivers sharing their location from the driver app always show as live
pins; there is no layer to turn on for them. When Vehicles or Tracked Units
are on, Fit to tracked zooms the map to everything they show.
For tracker pins in detail, see
Vehicles and tracked units on the dispatch map.
For radar and the weather on your route days, see
Reading the pins
Each job is a teardrop pin:

cleaning, ? estimate or survey, 💧 septic pump.
Click a pin to open the job in the right panel.
Map Legend, at the bottom of the right panel, lists the pin types,
the territory overlay and the workload colors.
Jobs that don't show
A job's pin goes at its site's map location. If the site has none,
PortaPro tries to place the pin from the street address. When it can't, an
amber note at the top right says how many jobs are hidden (for example
3 of 20 jobs hidden) above Customer GPS coordinates missing. Add a map location
to those sites (open the customer, then Sites) and the pins appear.
The driver workload strip
Along the bottom of the map on a computer is one card per driver:
green when it updated in the last 5 minutes, amber when older, gray when
there is none.
The bar under it fills toward that target and turns amber near it and
red past it.
truck and since when.
Click a card to open that driver in the right panel.
The right panel
On a computer the panel sits to the right of the map. On a phone it is a
sheet you pull up from the bottom.
Snapshot (nothing selected): stops completed out of the day's total,
and each driver with their next stop and stop count. Click a driver to open
them.
Job (click a job pin or a job in the list): job number, customer, job
type, status and time. While the driver is on a dispatched route it also
shows En route or On site, and when the customer was texted "on the
way". Then:
Assigned to that driver.
Missed Stops and Rescheduling.
notes and open requests.
Driver (click a driver pin, a workload card or a driver in the
snapshot): location status, truck, stops for the day and progress. For a
pump truck with a tank size set, it shows Tank now and Tank load
against capacity, and warns "Route exceeds tank capacity, dump trip
required." when the day's gallons won't fit. Message opens Team Chat
with the driver, View route turns on Routes and zooms to their stops,
and Open in Route Plan opens their plan. See
Planning and optimizing routes.
Territory (click a territory): target stops and time window, the
drivers assigned, the day's stops for those drivers, the next service days,
and Edit territory.
Looking up an address
Search an address and the map drops a pin there. If the address is inside
an active territory, the panel shows:
against its target.
address. Book opens the new-job wizard with the driver, date and
address filled in.
If the address is outside every active territory, the panel says
Coverage gap and offers Add to nearest territory or Create new
territory here.
Dump approvals
When a disposal site is set to need dispatcher approval, a driver's request
to dump there shows as Dump Approvals with a count in the top bar. Open
it to see who is asking, which site and the estimated gallons, then
Approve or Deny. The driver is told either way.
Keyboard shortcuts (computer)
⌘K (Ctrl+K) search an address. ⌘N (Ctrl+N) new job. Esc closes the right
panel. Number keys 1 to 9 open a driver. Letter keys toggle layers (see the
table above).
